Medical Assistant – Foot & Ankle Practice

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable, professional, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our foot and ankle practice. The ideal candidate is organized, friendly, efficient, and comfortable working in a busy clinical environment.
The Medical Assistant will work closely with Dr. Gold to provide excellent patient care while helping maintain an efficient flow throughout the office. This position combines direct patient care, clinical assisting, documentation, and general medical office responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Support
  • Greet patients and prepare them for examination and treatment
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints
  • Record vital signs and other relevant clinical information
  • Prepare examination and procedure rooms before and after patient visits
  • Assist Dr. Gold during foot and ankle examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures
  • Provide patients with physician-directed instructions regarding treatment plans and follow-up care
  • Assist patients with braces, boots, surgical shoes, and other durable medical equipment as needed
Procedures & Treatments
  • Prepare sterile instruments and supplies for procedures
  • Set up and assist with injections and minor in-office procedures
  • Assist with wound care and dressing changes
  • Apply bandages, dressings, and compression wraps as directed
  • Remove sutures or staples when directed and appropriately trained
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments according to office protocols
  • Maintain appropriate infection-control procedures
Documentation & Medical Records
  • Accurately enter patient information into the electronic medical record
  • Update medications, allergies, medical history, and pharmacy information
  • Assist with clinical documentation as directed by the physician
  • Ensure laboratory, imaging, and other test results are properly entered into the patient's chart
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Patient Flow & Office Support
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
  • Prepare charts and rooms for upcoming patients
  • Communicate patient questions and concerns to the physician
  • Assist with prescription requests, referrals, imaging orders, and follow-up instructions as directed
  • Answer clinical phone messages and route them appropriately
  • Help coordinate follow-up appointments and testing
  • Monitor clinical supplies and notify management when items need to be reordered
Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Experience in podiatry, orthopedics, sports medicine, wound care, or another procedural medical practice is a plus
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required depending on experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working directly with patients
  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team
